Weekend boot spots: Dani Alves with a weird laceless Mercurial Vapor

El Clasico, Liverpool - Man City and lots of other amazing football. We now take a look at what the best boots from this weekend's action were and also a few of the best gloves, which is a new segment we will be including from now on. Read along…

Dani Alves (Barcelona) - Nike Mercurial Vapor Custom

Probably not the most popular guy in Madrid these days, but I don’t think he really cares about that to be honest. In the last few games he has been playing in his Nike Mercurial Vapor, where he has done something pretty weird. He has pulled the laces out of the boot and only ties up the top. I don’t get it at all and can only really see downsides to it, but hey, whatever floats your boat Mr. Alves.

Christian Benteke (Liverpool) - Nike Tiempo Legend 6

Benteke came on late in the day for Liverpool, when the game practically was won, and showed off his new Tiempo Legend 6 boots for the first time. He missed an absolute sitter, but let’s not put that down to the boots. The new Tiempo looks just as good on the pitch, as it does in hand. Top stuff from Nike!

Keisuke Honda (AC Milan) - Mizuno Wave Ignitus IV

Mizuno have recently unveiled their newest generation of the Wave Ignitus collection, which Keisuke Honda showed off for the first time a few games back. We love what the Japanese brand have going on and hope to see more quality colourways like this new orange mix in our boot spots.

Kenedy (Chelsea) - Adidas Messi15.1

Kenedy was one of the young talented adidas athletes, who Messi himself has backed to do well. He has therefore been wearing the godlike Argentines boots in action for the last few weeks and also in his full Chelsea debut this weekend against Norwich. Will be interesting to see if he can go on to be among the world's best.

Lionel Messi (Barcelona) - adidas Messi15.1

Speaking of Messi colourways, adidas unveiled the newest one last week and we were looking forward to seeing if they featured in the El Clasico, which luckily they did! He didn’t get to score, but he didn’t really need to either, because Barcelona ripped apart a lackluster Real Madrid side before he ever made it onto the pitch.

Gianluigi Buffon (Juventus) - Puma evoPOWER Pop-art & Gianluigi Donnarumma (AC Milan) - Puma evoPOWER Grip 1

Our first round of glove-spots takes us to Italy. The story, that was on everybody’s lips in the Serie A, was the game between Juventus legend Gianluigi Buffon and his heir apparent; Gianluigi Donnarumma. While Buffon had a fairly quiet afternoon at the office, the just 16 year old Donnarumma had to make a number of brilliant stops to keep Milan in the game. It was however to no avail and Juventus did manage to break through.

Lots of fun spots, with especially Dani Alves leaving us a little bemused. I mean what advantages could there possibly be to what he has got going on there? Maybe he is jealous of all the adidas players who get to wear the new Laceless boot. Which boot spots caught your attention the most this weekend?
