It’s not even up for debate, since its unveiling no other boots have reached the same levels of hype, as the adidas ACE 16+ PureControl. Last week Die Drei Streifen unveiled the second colourway update for the boots, and if you still aren’t quite sure how adidas pulled off the unique design, then read along.

The adidas ACE 16+ PureControl is created to give players the purest feeling of control ever and as you have undoubtedly already noticed, this meant removing the laces. However, you can’t just pull the laces out of a boot and expect it to perform, and this is where adidas really focused all their innovation during the two years it took to design the boots.

Central to the design is the Primeknit material, which almost the entire upper is comprised of in one way or another. On the inside of the boots, the Primeknit material is shaped to create an internal cage that supports the foot and keeps it comfortably placed on the soleplate. To give an even better look at this cage, we recently received a pair of prototype PureControl, which were carved up, so you could see exactly how this cage works - check out the images and in-depth look at the cage here.

To really make sure you feel at one with your adidas ACE 16+ PureControl boots, the Primeknit upper has been shaped to to create the Primecut, as adidas call it. This is the ribbed construction around the ankle, which really helps improve comfort and that all important fit.

As you can probably tell by now, creating a high performance laceless boot like the PureControl is no easy task and having a stable upper, like the one you find on the adidas control boot, is a sum of many technological aspects. There is plenty of reason for adidas’ team of designers and engineers to be proud of their achievement.

If you want to get your hands on the new blue adidas ACE 16+ PureControl colourway, then you can find it right here.
