While the historic purple colour has always been a theme on Real Madrid shirts, adidas have brought in some ekstra inspiration on the design of the design of the third shirt.
The common theme for all adidas’ third shirts can be found around the shoulders. Every shirt design is made with a predominantly simple design, which has then been given a bit of spice around the sleeves. Every pattern is a reference back to a characteristic feature in the club.
In Madrid there is particularly one spot that has a significant place in the heart of fans. Plaza de Cibeles is the spot, where all fans meet to celebrate triumphs. And this plaza is the inspiration for the newly introduced Real Madrid third shirt, which is expressed through the circles around the shoulder. The circles are a direct reference to the large fountain that is placed in the heart of Madrid.
