A journey that started in the spring of 2013 and was brought to life in 2015, now gets a second twist to the tale. Introducing the very limited adidas Adizero 99g.

In April of last year, adidas presented the world’s first football boot that broke the almost unthinkable 100 gram weight barrier. Back then it was the Adizero boot, but things have changed since then and the adidas boot of choice for fast and agile players is now the X silo. However, adidas have surprisingly not tried to convert the X boot to a 99g incarnation, but instead introduce a revamped version of the the adizero silo.

They today bring the 99g-concept into 2016 by presenting the new adidas adizero 99g, as a part of the Limited Collection. Releasing with just 299 pairs made worldwide, this next-level piece of football boot engineering will be immensely tough to get a hold of.

adidas Adizero 99g will be made available on our site tomorrow (03.08.16), at 10:00AM CET. You need to be fast and remember only 1 pair per person.

Continued below.

The boots are made with a very thin textile upper, which plays a big part in the large drop in weight. Adding to that, the boots have been crafted with a unique soleplate and stud-configuration, where the outsole is made from just 1mm polyamide. The soleplate is light, but still very rigid and to further reduce weight, adidas have removed one of the studs on the heel.

There are obviously trade-offs in terms of stability with the upper, so what you need to decide with yourself is, if you trust your own motoric ability to keep you on your feet. If you do, then the adidas Adizero 99g gives you the closest thing to a feeling of not wearing any football boots at all. If nothing else, then they make for a very valuable collectable item, but make sure you always cop them for the love of the boots.
