Our 2017 Top 5 boots of the year | The Joltter and JayMike list

2017 is drawing to an end and as the last few days of December get torn off the calendar, we look back at the year and the boot releases that stole the show in our opinion. Here is the Top 5 best football boots released in 2017.

We just released a video with Joltter and JayMike, where they sit down together and rank their favourite five football boots of 2017. We did consider making it a video, where our two hosts try to agree on their combined favourite five boots, but quickly realised this would make it a 2 hour long video. Even though their choices are somewhat similar, there would just be way too much debating what rank to put the boots in and the two of them would never be able to fully agree.

So, in the interest of keeping the video at a more watchable length and to give a more nuanced picture of what great boots dropped in 2017, we let them make their personal Top Fives and match them against each other. Watch the video above to hear the two explain their choices and see what boots Jay Mike and Joltter loved the most this last year below.

Find the two lists below

Joltter’s Top 5 boots of 2017:

    5. PUMA Future 18.1 Netfit

    4. Puma evoPOWER Vigor 1

    3. adidas X 17+ PureSpeed

    2. Nike Magista Opus (new upper)

    1. Nike Mercurial Vapor Flyknit Ultra

Now there is a surprise at first place, which I don’t think many people who know how fat and clunky Joltter’s feet are would have guessed. The Nike Mercurial silo is usually completely off limits for Joltter, because it has such a narrow last, but the Flyknit Ultra upper is so strong and accommodating that it actually fits him like a glove. The rest of the choices speak for themselves really, with wide fitting boots that give you a snug fit and some nice strike surfaces for freekicks. Just what Joltter wants and needs.

JayMike’s Top 5 boots of 2017:

5. Mizuno Rebula V1 Made in Japan

4. adidas Predator 18+

3. adidas Nemeziz 17.1

2. Nike Mercurial Vapor Flyknit Ultra

1. PUMA Future 18.1 Netfit

So many good boots on JayMike’s list, which is a good combination of high quality design and hype. The PUMA Future is certainly a massive leap forward for PUMA and the fact that it features on both our hosts list is a credit to the boot. Jay’s fifth spot choice, is a boot that hasn’t gained as much attention as it deserves, but the people at Mizuno make insanely good boots with the best materials and it is no surprise that a boot connoisseur like Jakob loves them.

The boots on this list are all on our site in the newest colourways, so you can find the best football boots of 2017 right here.
