PUMA Derby Fever Pack is a great collection that puts the spotlight on some of the most famous derbies around the world. The Olivier Giroud edition is all about the North London Derby, an intense and fierce rivalry between two famous London based clubs: Arsenal and Tottenham. Both clubs were founded in the 1880’s, and they encountered each other for the first time in a friendly match which was played on the 19th of December 1887. The match ended 2-1 to Tottenham, and was cut short with 15 minutes to go, because it was too dark to continue playing. The first competitive match between the two clubs however was played on the 4th of December 1909, where the two clubs met each other in the best English football league at the time, called the First Division. This match ended with a 1-0 victory to Arsenal. Since then, a lot of time has passed and the clubs have met each other a total of 183 times - with a predominance of Arsenal victories to follow. The clubs will clash again on the 30th April 2017, at White Hart Lane. Wearing this boot, Giroud will lead the Gunners in their attempt to claim another win, improving their stats yet again. Olivier Giroud joined the Arsenal back in 2012, from the French club Montpellier. He is considered a powerful striker with excellent heading skill, with hard strike from the left foot and a great linkup ability. He’s been involved in 9 North London derbies so far, scoring a total of 2 goals and creating 1 assist. He’ll be crossing his fingers for repeating the success from his very first North London derby, where the Arsenal won 5-2. A synthetic material with exceptional elasticity. The upper is still designed to allow for a unique one-way stretch allowing the upper to flex with the foot - allowing it to feel like kicking barefoot. The sock like construction adds to this feeling, ensuring your kicks and strikes are as powerful as possible. This feel allows for the most efficient use of power, making you the king of the pitch. Also, the one-way stretch helps the boots stability, especially when exposed to lateral forces during twists and turns. The upper has been coated with GripTex, that is visible on the length of the boot and is designed to increase the friction between ball and boot - even in wet conditions. The entry to the boot has been fitted with “pull tabs”, for easy access. The heel cap is designed to be stably, providing great support and fit, while the inside is lined with a microfibre material for ultimate comfort. AccuFoam padding for precision and touch Especially designed 3D AccuFoam PU buds has been integrated on the in- and outside of the sock like construction. These buds enhances your feel of the football, allowing you stay close on the ball. Also the buds even out the upper, allowing you a clean kicking surface and greater precision. The buds also helps improve level of comfort, due to the soft texture of the buds. Pebax outer sole with gradual stability frame The ultra light Pebax outer sole is equipped with PUMA’s Gradual Stability Frame on the middle foot, it acts like the spine of the boot - ensuring both stability and flexibility. The DuoFlex grooves on the front part, acts together with the nimble leather upper and the GSF - so that movement is as close to the foot's natural movement as possible. An anatomical designed removable insole, allows for optimum and even distribution of pressure.
