Guinness World Records™ Title achieved with adidas Trionda Official Match Ball

An industrial warehouse filled with colorful stacked shipping containers and a person walking towards the camera under a bright glass ceiling. Logos for Guinness World Records, UFC, and Adidas are prominently displayed.

When adidas launched their adidas Trionda Official Match Ball for the FIFA World Cup 2026, we wanted to celebrate it in a way that truly reflected the beauty of ball control and amazing first touches. Not just with style — but with a challenge of beating a Guinness World Records™ title. Check it out in the video below!

UNISPORT BEATING A GUINNESS WORLD RECORD... WHAT?

Yup..! We want to break the official Guinness World Records title for “The highest altitude football dropped and controlled”, held by former professional footballer Jamie Redknapp at 38.92 meters. Sounds crazy, right?!

To beat it, the rules were simple, but brutal - here are the simple, short version of the rules:

  • The football must be juggled for a minimum of 5 touches before touching the ground.
  • As per the rules of football for outfield players, the ball cannot be controlled using arms or hands.
  • If the ball touches the ground or any external object at any time during the attempt, the attempt is ended.
  • A standard size 5, FIFA-approved football inflated to the correct pressure must be used for this attempt.
  • A qualified referee must confirm the football is match ready as per FIFA standards to ensure the ball is living up to the requirements, and the ball is only controlled via correct outfield player touches.
  • It is up to the participant to decide how the football is dropped. The ball can be dropped straight down or at an angle.
  • The height that the ball is dropped from must be measured by a professional surveyor.

WHO CAN POSSIBLY BEAT THIS RECORD?

Enter PWG, our very own freestyle wizard - calm, focused, and ready to take on gravity itself. PWG is one of the most renowned freestylers in the world with an unseen ball control - so if anyone should be able to beat this record, PWG is the man!

Lots of preparation went into this - finding the right location, finding the right crane, finding the right equipment for capturing this crazy attempt - but most importantly, lots of training by PWG. Basically, months of planning went into this... So, let's watch how it went!

If you haven't watch the video above, below is a shorter version of the attempt.

GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS™ TITLE ACHIEVED BY PWG FROM UNISPORT!

What followed was over two hours of relentless dedication, more than 160 attempts, and a test of both skill and endurance. The adidas Trionda came at a speed of up to 101 km/h - and with each attempt, PWG got closer to defeat and admit that it was not possible to beat the record of 38.92 meters. He got more and more tired - and his foot, ankle and calves were more and more hurt and bruised.

But... PWG was not ready to give up!

And then - on the 167th attempt - something happened!

The ball was dropped from 40.08 meters; PWG had one, two, three, four and then - a fifth touch as well - which meant he now had set a brand-new official Guinness World Record!

A moment of pure magic we’ll never forget.

THE OFFICIAL RECORD HOLDER

PWG - or to be precise using his civil name, Philip Warren Gertsson - is the official Guinness World Record™ title holder for the “The highest altitude football dropped and controlled” at an incredible 40.08 meters.

This achievement isn’t just a win for PWG and Unisport. It’s a testament to the precision and performance behind the new adidas Trionda Official Match Ball - and a perfect embodiment of making football dreams come true.
