Spring is upon us and Adidas celebrate that by presenting a brand new and fresh colourway for the Adidas Predator LZ II. We take a closer look at the new colour for Adidas’ Predator here.
Football has developed drastically in the last few years, where the control boot has made a serious march on the boot market. Adidas’ shot at a control boot is the Adidas Predator LZ II, which gives great prerequisites for hitting that decisive pass and controlling the game.
Adidas have now unveiled a fresh new spring colour of the Adidas Predator LZ II boot. A white upper is only disturbed by an orange sole, as well as the black and orange detail colours. With the fresh and clear colours it is a model, which fits the time of year perfectly.
Adidas are a German company and Germans are well known for their precision and very thorough approach to most aspects of life. It therefore comes as no surprise that the Adidas Predator LZ II is a result of a sea of numbers, calculations and statistics, which has been compiled thanks to feedback from professional players like Xavi, Nani, Thomas Müller and Samir Nasri.
On average a player has between 60 and 80 touches on the ball during a game, which isn't even 1 touch every minute. This is why every touch has to be absolutely spot on and this is where the upper design, with the five Lethal Zones come into play.
Control really is the keyword and the boots core DNA. The upper is an upgraded version of the Hybridtouch material, which we were introduced to on the first generation of Lethal Zones. This ensures a leather-like comfort, but still gives it the advantages of synthetic microfibre; which include low weight and a sharp and precise touch.
The most important part of the boot is still the five Lethal Zones, which gave name to the boot. These are incorporated into the boot and move in accordance to your foots movements. Adidas have placed them on areas of the boot, where their chosen athletes have pointed out a need for them and this is Drive, Pass, Dribble, First Touch and Sweet Spot.
The first and largest zone is located on the instep: Drive. This zone focuses on the long pass and adding extra power to your strike. 'Drive' will provide that little extra power to your pass or strike that may just decide whether you win or lose the match. First touch, is the second and is, as the name insinuates, designed to help your first touches. It gives you supreme control and helps make sure you can have the ball drop dead at your feet.

On the medial side of the boot we find the Pass zone, which especially midfielders will benefit from. The area has been lined with memory foam and a 3D texture for improved ball grip. The Pass zone stabilises your passing, hereby freeing you from having to make up bad excuses for inaccurate passes. In addition, the Pass zone also provides better ball control and helps you get control over the ball when receiving it.
Taking a look further down the medial side of the forefoot, we find the 'Sweet Spot' zone. This zone is specially designed to assists you when, for example, bending a strike into the top corner or curling a free-kick over the wall. The sweet spot is made from a slightly thinner material, thus providing the best possible friction and you can definitely imagine David Beckham, Xavi or Nani curling a free kick into the top corner with the help of Sweet Spot.
The fifth and final zone you on the Adidas Predator LZ II, is dribble, it is placed on the lateral side of the boot. It is designed to give you the tools to control your dribbling, but also gives you more grip on the ball, when you attempt a cheeky little shot with the outside of your boot.
At the bottom of the boot Adidas' technological wonder is crowned with an outsole, which is almost synonymous with the brand itself, as well as high quality; The Sprintframe. A lightweight sole, with great flexibility and power conversion, so you can get the very most out of your efforts. The stud-configuration, which helps the sole is the one we know and love from the Adidas F50 Adizero. The triangular studs are a favourite among anyone who has used it, with grip and acceleration that is hard to match.
