2020/21 Dortmund shirt | New home shirt for die Schwarz-Gelben

PUMA x BVB are ready for the new 2020/21 Bundesliga season with a striking new home kit for die Schwarz-Gelben.

It’s only been a few weeks since we had the first shirt launches for the upcoming 2020/21 season, which was the Bayern München home shirt and the Ajax away shirt. Now die Schwarz-Gelben - which translates directly to “the black and yellow” ones - will have the floor, as PUMA introduces us with a new shirt - and when we say new, we mean it. It’s no surprise that the new Borussia Dortmund home shirt features the iconic and classic colours of the team in a smashing yellow and black combo.

But this time, as you can see, it appears that some visual changes have been made, as most of the shirt on the front has been finished in an electrifying (yup, literally) graphic print that looks like lightning bolts.

Apparently, the inspiration comes from the ‘Westfalenhalle', which is an U-Bahn metro station and a key landmark on the journey to the Signal Iduna Park - the home stadium of Borussia Dortmund.

In addition, the station houses the star that leads to the true home of any BVB fan. Thus, a lot of symbolic meaning has been added to the shirt, as you can see.

Another noticeable change is of course the new 1&1 sponsor logo in the middle of the shirt instead of Evonik - their previous sponsors. So not only are BVB back with a unique design for their stunning new home shirt, they’ve switched sponsors as well.

The home shirt is completed with black shorts and yellow socks.

We definitely can’t wait to see Erling Haaland, Jaden Sancho and Marco Reus rock their new home kit on the Signal Iduna Park.
