adidas are ready with the new Real Madrid away shirt for the upcoming season. A shirt which is inspired by graffiti and remind us of a special shirt from the 1998/99 season. Read more about it, and buy it, below.

Real Madrid are walking towards some very interesting times. Los Blancos have a new coach, new players, such as David Alaba, and the fans can look forward to the renovation of the stadium being completed next year. On the other side, Real Madrid has also lost some key figures ahead of this upcoming season. Therefore it is very exciting to see how the Madrid-based club is going to perform. And now it just got even more exciting, as adidas have launched a dazzling new away shirt for the away trips for Real Madrid. Let’s check it out right away!

Real Madrid will play in a beautiful dark blue away shirt in the 2021/22 season. A shirt which is inspired by the graffiti art in the streets of Madrid. Graffiti art is a present expression and a representation of Madrid’s cultural diversity. Therefore this new away kit pays a tribute to the city and Real Madrid’s diversity in an alternative and progressive design.

But how can graffiti art be transferred into a football shirt? Well, the graffiti is actually to be seen all over the shirt, as the shirt has a subtle all over graphic with graffiti art - painted in a slightly different blue than the dark blue base. The graffiti art includes crowns and arrows among other things - and it looks awesome in our opinion. These crowns and arrows are also to be found on the back - just below the collar. To be more specific, they are actually to be found as a part of the lettering ‘Real Madrid’ in a small graffiti-inspired font on the back. A cool little detail!

Besides being blue, the shirt also features white, as the logos on the front, as well as the abovementioned lettering on the back, are all white. The collar and famously three adidas stripes on the collarbone are in orange. This combination of dark blue, white and orange made us think of the iconic Real Madrid third shirt from the 1998/99 season. A season where a young Raúl in his early 20’s destroyed La Liga with 25 goals for Real Madrid. Maybe a new young striker will do the same for Los Blancos this upcoming season? Otherwise we are sure Benzema will score a goal or two!
