Although the big football leagues are currently enjoying their summer holidays, the boot market is not resting on its laurels. Adidas have now unveiled a very flamboyant colourway of the very popular Adidas F50 Adizero, which features strong colours and is made exclusively for Lionel Messi. Get the first look at the Argentinian's new boot right here.
A rush shot through the world of football boots yesterday, when Adidas gave the first teaser of the colours used on the elusive Argentinian Lionel Messi's new boots. With the slogan The New Speed of Light Adidas gave a taste of the powerful colours, which have now found their way onto the exclusive model of the F50 Adizero, which is made for Lionel Messi alone.
And even though the boot won't be available for purchase before the 1st of August, the German boot giants have now already unveiled the new boots design. It is very unlike the previous red and white Messi edition boot and the pink and purple tones will definitely stand out, as Messi takes to the pitches around the world.
There will be plenty of colour on Lionel Messi's boots, which for the last four years running have kicked their way to the Ballon d'Or and enchanted spectators. The pink and purple overlaps and gives the impression of a colour-explosion of pure energy, which definitely matches Messi's always enticing and surprising play on the pitch.
The boot is sure to divide opinion and some will probably think that the colour combination is a tad too much, while others will be spellbound by the sharp and contrasting colours. But seeing as though the boot is designed exclusively for Messi and Messi alone, Adidas do not have to worry about what other footballers think.
On the boot you yet again find Messi's exclusive logo, which was launched in 2012 and it this time is situated on the heel of the boot. This means defenders get to find out who they are dealing with, after Messi has already glided past them and is running towards goal. He moves with The Speed of Light and this is what Adidas want to show with the boot.
Just like the earlier version of the Barcelona stars signature boot in red and white, this boot has been produced entirely with an upper made from synthetic leather. It is what Adidas call DUALMAX and it is a 1,5 mm thin microfibre material, which gives comfort and touch, near that, which leather gives. Messi is however a loyal leather man and he will most probably stick to a upper made from leather, like he did with the previous signature boot.
On the heel of the Adidas F50 Adizero Messi Turbo/Running White/Black the clever SprintWeb resides, which ensures stability and support for the foot, while the boots upper can hold itself upright, so it can be worked as thin as possible. This gives a millimetre precise touch, while the weight is also kept at an absolute minimum.
The outsole of the boot is naturally the well known and loved Sprintframe, which is equipped with the equally adored Traxion 2.0 stud-configuration. The studs really looks nice with the red and white colours, which are two colours that have symbolic meaning to Messi. The red is Messi's favourite colour and symbolises his love of football. White means speed and lightness, which are two central parts of Messi's game.
The new Messi signature boot will definitely divide opinion, but what do you think about the new colourway? Do the sharp colours match Messi's play? As always we would love to hear your thoughts here and on Twitter and Facebook.
