The Nike Free Concept originates in Stanford, where Nike looked into the training methods of the very successful athletes there and found out they trained barefoot. 3 of Nike's most esteemed and creative innovators went to work on this basis and in 2002 they began work on the first Nike Free by mapping the foots biomechanics.
8 years later the first Nike Free went on sale and the result was a shoe that "understood" your feet, how they land, where the pressure is applied. It was an unconventional shoe, but sparked the interest of many around the world.
