New Era Caps, Crewnecks and T-shirts

5 Products
New Era is mostly about caps, and the first decision is the shape: flat or curved brim, firm or soft crown, fitted or adjustable. You will find the main cap shapes here, together with crewnecks and T-shirts from the same brand. The guide under the products explains how the shapes differ.Read more

Which New Era cap shape fits you

The number in a New Era cap name tells you how the cap is built, not which model it is. One shape comes in many colours and designs, so it pays to settle on the shape first and the colour second.

Shape Crown Brim Fit
59FIFTY Structured, full height Flat Fitted, no adjustment
9FIFTY Structured, full height Flat Snapback, one size fits most
39THIRTY Lower profile Curved Stretch fit, sized S/M and L/XL
9FORTY Structured, lower profile Curved Adjustable strap
9TWENTY Unstructured, soft Curved Adjustable strap

59FIFTY: the fitted cap

This is the shape New Era is best known for. The crown is tall and firm, the brim is flat, and there is nothing to adjust at the back, so the size has to be right when you order. Measure your head first and buy the size you measured. Do not round down hoping it will loosen up.

9FIFTY: the same look, adjustable

The 9FIFTY copies the 59FIFTY shape but closes with a snapback. Some people prefer it for that reason alone: you get the firm crown and flat brim without having to know your exact size.

9FORTY and 9TWENTY: curved brim, everyday wear

Both have a curved brim and an adjustable strap, and both sit lower on the head than the flat-brim shapes. The 9FORTY keeps a structured front panel, so it holds its shape. The 9TWENTY is unstructured and softer, the classic dad cap. If it is your first New Era cap and you are unsure about sizing, one of these two is the easier start.

39THIRTY: stretch fit

The 39THIRTY has a curved brim and a close fit without any strap or snap. It comes in S/M and L/XL, so you still choose a size, but the range is wider than with a fitted cap.

Crewnecks and T-shirts

New Era also makes crewnecks and T-shirts, and they sit in the same category as the caps. A T-shirt is the simple option for warmer days, a crewneck for when it gets cooler. Check the product pages for fit and material details.
