Empowering Through Football: Completing the Impossible
Nagin Ravand, a Danish-Afghan UEFA-licensed football coach, has dedicated her work to creating greater opportunities and equality through football. Drawing from her own experiences growing up, she has turned her passion for the game into a platform for positive change, using football to bring people together and empower the next generation.
Through her work with the Globall project, Nagin focuses on creating opportunities for girls and women from ethnic minority communities, using football as a tool for inclusion, community and empowerment. Her vision is now taking another step forward, with the construction of a new football pitch that will create a space for her community to come together and play.
Football can be a lot more than what happens on the pitch.
It can create communities, give people a place to belong and open up opportunities that reach far beyond the game itself. Few people embody that better than Nagin Ravand.
Last year, we followed Nagin on her journey to make football more equal and create a positive impact in her community.
We spent time with her, saw the work she was doing and heard about her vision for using football to bring people together. What stood out was her ability to turn her passion for the game into something bigger — creating opportunities for people who might not otherwise have them.
But there was one thing missing. A place of her own.
From an idea to a pitch
Nagin had a vision for a football pitch that could become a gathering point for her community.
A place where people could come and play, regardless of their background, experience or circumstances.
At the time, it was just an idea.
But after following Nagin and seeing the impact she was already having, we wanted to help turn that idea into reality.
So, we went back.
This time, the story was no longer about imagining what the pitch could become.
It was about building it.
From the first stages of construction to seeing the pitch take shape, we followed Nagin as her vision became something tangible.
A space that can give more people the opportunity to play football.
A space where new friendships can start, communities can grow and more people can find their place in the game.
And ultimately, a space that represents what Nagin has been working towards all along.
The final chapter
When we first met Nagin, she talked about the difference football could make in her community.
Now, we get to see that idea come to life.
The pitch is more than a football field. It is the result of the work, passion and belief that Nagin has put into making the game more accessible to the people around her.
It is also a reminder that change in football doesn’t always have to start with something huge.
Sometimes, it starts with one person, one idea and the determination to make it happen.
Today, we’re releasing the documentary following Nagin’s journey on the Unisport YouTube channel.
From the people and communities that inspired her, to the vision she had for the future, and finally to the pitch being built, the documentary brings the story full circle.
More than one story
Working with Nagin has also inspired us to look beyond her story.
There are people and groups all over the football world using the game to create opportunities, build communities and make a positive impact.
That is why we’re launching the Unisport Scholarship together with Nagin — a program designed to support some of those ideas and help turn football dreams into reality.
But for now, we’re going back to where it all started.
With Nagin.
And with a simple idea: using football to make a difference.
