The new Manchester United away shirt 2021/22 is a combination of fresh seasonal club colours and an iconic graphic. Remixing the most iconic flavours of Manchester and United’s DNA. The red thread of the iconic Manchester ‘M’ has been remastered for a future icon. But which iconic shirt from the past are we talking about? Well, if you’re a true United fan, you would know just by looking at the new shirt. But for those who need a little bit of help, it takes its inspiration from the 1990/92 away shirt.
For those of you who don’t remember what the shirt looked like back then - it was white with a crazy blue graphic on. This away shirt was notably worn in the 6-2 win against Arsenal, and the 1992 League Cup final, where a goal from Brian McClair helped United beat Notts Forest 1-0 at Wembley AND this shirt is definitely a must-have for any football shirt collector out there.
And adidas made the new away shirt resemble the old iconic shirt very much. It’s mainly white and features a geometric blue graphic print all over the shirt. But as one might have noticed - the graphic is not quite the same as the original shirt. This design is a more zig-zag design in blue, which fades out. And we like it!
