Silly season is well and truly on! It's the summer transfer window and records continue to be not just broken, but completely and entirely shattered. The clubs don’t look like they are even remotely finished with the big signings and as we get closer and closer to deadline there might be some panic purchases. I therefore felt it was only right to take a look, at what I think are the biggest signings so far this summer.

Raheem Sterling (Manchester City) & Petr Cech (Arsenal) Throughout the last season's entire summer transfer window Premier League clubs spent roughly 500 million pounds. With almost an entire month left this season, 300 million has already been splashed now and that is in great part thanks to Raheem Sterling’s £49m move to Manchester City. Arsenal on the other hand spent a far more modest amount of money on a player, who could prove to have a much larger impact - Petr Cech. In my opinion Cech is easily the best signing this summer so far and could really take Arsenal to the next level.

Arturo Vidal & Douglas Costa (Bayern Munich) Of all the areas on the pitch I thought Bayern needed to strengthen, I wouldn’t have said the midfield. That is however what they have done, with Arturo Vidal and Douglas Costa being brought in from Juventus and Shaktar Donetsk. It could mean there are some Bayern players being sold before the end of the window and surely there will be plenty of clubs interested in what they’ve got.

Arda Turan (Barcelona) & Danilo (Real Madrid) In Spain things have been unusually subdued, with Real Madrid and Barcelona both having made a couple of small signings and only really one big signing each. Barcelona were absolutely rampant last season, so not much strengthening was needed, but they have brought in Arda Turan to give some alternative attacking options. Real Madrid meanwhile hope their signing of Danilo will give them the firepower they need to challenge the Barca dominance.

Christian Benteke & Firmino (Liverpool) Last summer’s biggest transfer failures were almost all Liverpool players. The players they bought were all pretty much crap, so Brendan Rodgers couldn't afford to go wrong this summer. If you ask me, he has done perfectly and particularly Benteke is certain to be a star for the club. - I’ve seen the Belgian score overhead kicks, long range drives, direct free kicks and since his arrival to the Premier League no other player has scored more headers. Firmino however I feel could go either way and either be a massive success, or a bit meh. Only time will tell.

Memphis Depay & Bastian Schweinsteiger (Manchester United) Staying in England and another English team, who are throwing serious dough after new signings. Manchester United have bought a number of new players, but none as big as Memphis Depay and Schweinsteiger, who are a real signal of intent. The Red Devils want the Premier League trophy and they want it now! A lot can happen between now and the end of the transfer window, so I’ll say the jury is still out, but if they hold on to De Gea their chances are looking good.

These are my ten best signings so far this summer and although he is easily the cheapest of the lot, I still feel that Petr Cech is the strongest addition so far.
