The first round of boot spots of the year coming in hot! And thank god they are hot, because the winter weather has definitely decided to show up this weekend. Read along and get a closer look at the most interesting boots on the feet of the pro players…

Antoine Griezmann (Atletico Madrid) - PUMA evoSPEED SLS

Over the holidays PUMA unveiled the new evoSPEED SLS boots along with a new colourway update. The boots are a more sturdy version of the world’s lightest match boot and among the many professional players that have made the switch is Atletico superstar Antoine Griezmann. We actually had a chat with him about the new boots recently, so keep your eyes locked on our Youtube, where we will be uploading the video soon.

Jamie Vardy (Leicester City) - Nike Hypervenom Phantom II Blackout

All brands on high alert!! Vardy’s meteoric rise to superstardom has come while wearing the Hypervenom Phantom II, but he might be on the hunt for a new contract, because in the last game he wore a blackouted version. A brand switch would be very interesting to follow in any case, so now there’s another reason to watch Vardy play next weekend.

Jack Butland & Joe Hart (Stoke City & Manchester City) - Nike Vapor Grip 3 SMU's & Nike Hypervenom Phantom

A couple of weeks back we shared a picture of Joe Hart and Jack Butland’s matching SMU gloves on our goalkeeper Instagram account. This weekend the boys went back to the coming black and white colourway, which has however been given a little extra jazz, as the upper hand Swoosh is made with the Liquid Chrome Hypervenom colour, which is also the boot they both wear.

Cristiano Ronaldo (Real Madrid) - Nike Mercurial Superfly IV CR7 324K Gold

Last year Nike and Cristiano Ronaldo unveiled the new Limited Edition Nike Mercurial Superfly IV CR7 324K Gold boots, which CR7 instantly picked up in his games. After wearing another signature colourway of his, he is back wearing the sensational Vapor III remake colourway. They are truly stunning, so we definitely don’t blame him there.

Mickael Tavares (Sydney FC) - Nike Tiempo Legend V Highlight Pack

The Australian league has turned out to be a great place to find interesting boot spots, because unlike the big European leagues, the brands haven’t made sure the players are on massive contracts, so they only get the chance to wear a specific type or brand of boot. Mickael Tavares gave us a nice little look back at the Tiempo V from the Highlight Pack.

Ellie Brush & Vanessa DiBernado (Canberra United & Perth Glory) - Nike Tiempo Legend V Wms & adidas Ace15.1 Leather Wms

Also in Australia, the women’s league also featured a brilliant battle between Ellie Brush and Vanessa DiBernado, as well as between adidas and Nike. The pair wore the women's version of the Tiempo and Ace, with especially the Ace looking brilliant in my opinion. Which of the two colourways is your favourite?
