If January sets the bar for what we can expect in 2016, then we have a crazy year ahead! As the first month of the year draws to an end, we look back at the biggest launches.

Alright, there is absolutely no doubt what the biggest launch this month has been. The adidas PureControl dominated and is unquestionably the biggest launch this month. A football boot without laces - no, it wasn’t the first time ever - but damn, that’s a lot of innovation in a football boot.

It wasn’t the only launch adidas had for us either, because they also updated their Ace 16.1 Primeknit and Ace 16.1 boots, as well as brought out new colours for the X 15+ Primeknit and X 15.1. A very interesting line-up that really puts pressure on Nike in the hunt for world domination.

And speaking of Nike, they have had a pretty quiet start to the year by their standards, even though they did squeeze in a few launches, with the Hypervenom II Signature boots for Neymar Jr., as well as the Air Magista Footscape that received a roaring reception.

PUMA should however not be forgotten, who for the third year running are ready with a new generation of their evoPOWER. They also had the honour of kickstarting the year with a new evoSPEED in black and yellow.

Umbro weren’t to be denied, and also showed up in January with the Velocita II, as well as a Speciali colourway update.

To add to all these planned launches, Nike and adidas also celebrated their winners of the Ballon d’Or - with Leo Messi getting a Messi15.1 Platinum and Carli Lloyd a special edition Mercurial. Ohh yeah, and then there was Nike with the Black History Month Magista and I honestly can’t think of a better way to finish off here, than by remembering that we will be getting those in February. Ufff!
