We have made it to the final two games of the round of sixteen finals in the Champions League and here two of this seasons big surprises will both be playing. The question is, can they keep surprising us or will this be the end of the line?

So far there haven’t too many big upsets in the round of sixteen fixtures, but they may very well come tonight. With Dynamo Kiev and PSV both advancing from the group stages, City and Atletico Madrid will face off against this year’s two positive surprises.

Manchester City have yet to make it to the quarter finals in the Champions League, but in fairness the last two years they have played against Barcelona. The question is does the blue part of Manchester have the minerals to overcome Kiev? All in all Man City should beat them, but they haven’t exactly been playing their best football lately either, so I expect an unconvincing win.

In the game between Atletico Madrid and PSV I again think it’s very finely poised too and although the Spanish come in as favourites, you really shouldn’t count PSV out. They have only lost once at home this Champions League season, so the Phillips Stadium is obviously not a place teams enjoy going. Add to that the fanatical fans that kept letting off fireworks outside the Atletico Madrid player’s hotel rooms and there might be a chance. It worked against Manchester United at least…

I think PSV will pick up at least a point tonight and go into the game in Spain in two weeks with everything to play for.
