To represent your country at a major international tournament is the ultimate honour in football. This summer will be jam-packed with championships and Nike have done a little something extra to make it even more of an honour to wear the national team kit.

Nike have 10 countries playing international football this summer and on top of having developed innovative new team Vapor-kits with AeroSwift technology for all of them, they have also added some extra symbols of patriotism to each shirt. In the gallery at the top of the blog you can see how on each of the shirts.

The Nike designers have done their homework when creating these pieces of symbolism, because each shirt has its own way of representing the country's proud heritage. On the France national team home-shirt, hosts of EURO 2016, they have added a hexagon, which represents the large diversity and multicultural society that modern France is proud to be. In addition to that, you also see the text: “Nos Differences Nous Unissent,” which means: “Our differences unite us.”

In Portugal they will once again be looking to three time Ballon d’Or winner Cristiano Ronaldo to deliver. But the country is about so much more than just CR7. One of the things Portugal is particularly famous for is their naval feats and it was therefore natural to add the historic navigation tool, also known as the Armillary Sphere, on the shirt.

You can read much more about each individual shirt and learn more about the unique technology supporting them in our news section.
