Pre-season training is in full swing looking ahead of the new season and as always the stars are brushing off their fitness, as well as starting to find out what boots they want to wear, as they look to push on in the new season – and some really look to be struggling with this decision.

It is summer, the sun is shining, well... at least on the Unisportstore HQ's, and the training sessions around the world are well under way, as the stars get some sweat on their forehead and get as ready as at all possible, when they try to match the ambitions of the club and fans. Just like a chain is only as strong as the weakest link, the stars demand the right equipment and quite a number of them look to be very much in doubt on that front.

Steven Gerrard (Liverpool FC) – Nike CTR360 Maestri III Current Blue/Black/Volt Let's start off with, what could be one of the biggest boot spots, this season! One of the players who look to be feeling woozy in the sweltering sun, is Liverpools Captain, Steven Gerrard. An avid user of the Adidas Predator, now seen wearing the Nike CTR360 Maestri III during Liverpool's training session. We here at the office are completely blown away, to see the Liverpool captain switch out the Predator with the rival Maestri. You could imagine a few Adidas people with a couple of headaches today.

Robin van Persie (Manchester United) – Adidas F50 Adizero Infared/Black/Running White Custom It doesn't look like a good week for the Adidas Predator LZ II. In any case Robin van Persie has again been spotted in the Adidas F50 Adizero, instead of the new Predator, when replacing his trusted Adipower boots and things definitely point towards a permanent switch for the flying Dutchman. Worth noting is that RVP has had his Adizero's fitted with the old Adipower stud-configuration.

Mesut Özil (Real Madrid) – Adidas Predator LZ II Ray Green/Black/Electricty Some saving grace at last for the Predator, as Adidas' new star Mesut Özil wore the new Adidas Predator LZ II, when trashing championship side Bournemouth 6-0. There where no goals from his new boots, but with all the hassle involved in switching from Nike, we would think he will stay loyal to his new Predators.

Alex Oxlade Chamberlain (Arsenal) - Nike Tiempo Legend IV Black/White-Electric Green In this round of boot spots we also had to make a stop by Alex Oxlade Chamberlain, who is changing boots left right and center. Last week we saw him wearing the Maestri III and Hypervenom's and at Arsenals training in Thailand he wore the popular Nike Tiempo Legend IV. When training he is still wearing the Hypervenom's, so right now things look to be pointing that way. How will it end? We don't know- but then again, neither does Alex by the looks.

Phil Jones (Manchester United) – Nike Tiempo Legend IV Light Bone/Black-Volt The always hard working Phil Jones is starting to become quite a frequent feature on our boot spots. His contract with Puma looks to have ended, which has led him to trying quite a few different boots. Last week it was Adidas' Nitrocharge, but against the A-League All-stars team, Phil Jones had laced up a pair of Nike Tiempo Legend IV Light Bone/Black-Volt.

José Mourinho (Chelsea FC) – Adidas Nitrocharge 1.0 Blue Beauty/Electricity/Running White If Adidas are sad seeing that Phil Jones has not pulled on the Nitrocharge, then they can warm themselves with the thought that “The Special One” is wearing their new boot. And when your name is José Mourinho you need the Portuguese flag embroidered, so no one has to wonder where he's from.

Jesse Lingard (Manchester United) – Nike CTR360 Maestri III Black/White/Phantom Blue/Pink Flash A player who will definitely be exciting to follow is Manchester Uniteds young striker Jesse Lingard, who is looking very promising in this pre-season training. In the game against the All star team from the A-league in Australia, Lingard ripped the opponents defence to shreds, scoring twice in his Nike CTR360 Maestri III Black/White/Phantom Blue/Pink Flash.

Wilifried Zaha (Manchester United) – Nike Mercurial Vapor IX Volt/Black/Bright Citrus There will be plenty of competition for places in Manchester Uniteds attack in the coming season. There's the very goal happy Dutchman van Persie and then there is, for now, Wayne Rooney, who has never been shy of hammering the ball into the back of the net. It will therefore be a struggle for Jesse Lingard and no less so Untieds new boy, Wilifried Zaha, who showed off his summer colourway of the Nike Mercurial Vapor IX.

Antonio Cassano (Parma) – Diadora DD-NA GLX 14 Blue/Red Things are always colourful when “The Sunny Beach boy” Antonio Cassano is out looking to add more goals to his resumé. In the coming season he will be doing so for Parma and his weapon of choice is the Diadora DD-NA. You would think there will be a goal, or two for Cassano in the elegant boot.

Danny Welbeck (Manchester United) – Nike Hypervenom Black/Bright Citrus We were close, but there is no getting around the Hypervenom, which has been ever present in our boot spots, since it was introduced. This weekend it was Manchester United's Danny Welbeck, who pulled on the unpredictable boot. As always with the Hypervenom, we just have to conclude, it looks sharp!

That was this weeks boot spots, where we took another look at this big European leagues pre-season training. Easily the biggest spot of them all was Steven Gerrard wearing a pair of Maestri, which would be shocking news. Did you spot something we missed? As always we would love to hear your thoughts in the comment-section down below, or on Facebook and Twitter.
