It has been an eventful weekend, where there has been big games in abundance, as you might expect they have given us quite a handful of amazing boot spots. Today we go all the way around the world and the one thing that has been on everyones lips and feet on all continents has been; Vapor IX. It has been given an early début by quite a few of players and you can see the overly eager perpetrators here.

Andrew Hoole (Newcastle Jets) – Adidas F50 Adizero Prime Purple/Neon/Orange We start down under, where we had a look at the Australian league, where the most elegant striker to ever grace the football field, Emile Heskey, roams. For a moment we did however take our eyes of the colossus of a man and this would turn out to be very rewarding, as we spotted his teammate Andrew Hoole in a legendary boot. The choice was a pair of Adidas F50 Adizero Prime, that still occupies top spot, on the “lightest boots ever list”. With a weight of just 145 grams it's practically untouchable, but we hope, that someday, someone might challenge it.

Emiliano Armenteros (Osasuna) – Joma Fit100 Ultralight Red/Blue/Green If you were watching Spanish football over the weekend and have a habit of keeping an eye on players boots, then you were probably as flabbergasted as us, when you saw Armenteros take to the field. We are struggling to comprehend why a professional football player would ever choose a pair of Joma Fit100 Ultralight Red/Blue/Green, as they are in every aspect, awful. Jakob reviewed them for our WebTV and tossed away just as quickly as he could. - But who knows, maybe he sees something in them, that we don't.

Cesc Fabregas (Barcelona) – Puma Powercat 1.12 Graphic The Spanish midfield icon was recently paid tribute to by his boot sponsor, when he received a pair of exclusive Puma Powercat 1.12. He has now taken to using them and they helped him find the back of the net, in the weekend game against Malaga and this also gives us the opportunity to take a closer look and admire them. The colours are inspired by the Spanish, as well as the Catalan flag and are therefore perfect for using when representing his country and club.

Lionel Messi (Barcelona) – Adidas F50 Adizero Yellow/Black The worlds best footballer looked set to début his personal and completely exclusive Adidas F50 Adizero Ballon d'Or. Adidas had designed them for the Argentine to mark his staggering achievement of winning the Ballon d'Or four times, consecutively. This does however looks to have been all talk, as Lionel Messi delivered quite the anticlimax and continued in his regular F50 Adizero Yellow/Black. This naturally didn't stop him from scoring a goal and providing an assist.

Martin Caceres (Juventus) – Nike Mercurial Vapor IX Naughty, naughty, Mr. Caceres! It was a slightly premature début for the Nike Mercurial Vapor IX on the international stage, when Juventus defender had pulled his on for the game against Parma. If he thought he was going to get away with that, he had chosen a very wrong boot, because the new Mercurial Vapor IX is far from discrete, when it comes to colour.

Leandro Castan (AS Roma) – Nike Mercurial Vapor IX In the Italian Serie A there were more players, who had chosen to break the rules and wear the new Vapor IX, that are yet to be officially released. - Maybe it's some mob mentality that makes it easier for them to disregard the rules? This is actually not the first time, that Leandro Castan is a bit of an early bird, when it comes to none released boots, as he pulled the same stunt at the release of the Nike Mercurial Vapor VIII Retro/Total Orange/Challenge Red.

Papiss Demba Cissé (Newcastle) – Nike T90 Laser IV Soar/Black/Silver The Senegalese striker has recently been given more freedom to roam in attack, as his strike partner, Demba Ba, has moved to Chelsea. At the beginning of the season this mans boots were very different, as he had shelved his Nike T90 Laser IV and tried his luck with a pair of Tiempo Legend IV. Now he has in the meantime brought them back, to see if they can help rekindle his goal getting, whether this will happen only time will tell.

John Terry (Chelsea) – Nike Tiempo Legend IV Clash White/Black It created quite a kerfuffle, when Umbros trophy player John Terry was kicked to the curb, because of his unlucky stints in the press. When the Chelsea-captain had then worn his way through his boot collection, he was in need of a new boot proprietor and this is where Nike swooped in. In his comeback game after injury, he showed off his new boots and the choice has a pair of Nike Tiempo Legend IV Elite Clash White/Black.

Franck Ribery (Bayern Munich) – Nike Mercurial Vapor IX In a slightly warmer part of the world, we have in this last weeks time been able to follow Bayern Munich in Qatar, where they are attending their annual training-camp. Here all the Mercurial-players have been far from shy, as they have shown off their new Nike Mercurial Vapor IX's without a care in the world. Franck Ribery is naturally among this lot and he showed off the purple variation of the boot.

Xherdan Shaqiri (Bayern Munich) – Nike Mercurial Vapor IX The Swiss wunderkind is no more than 170 cm tall and if you take his considerable bodily property into consideration, he may be the most corpulent and compact player in the game. Shaqiri definitely has some serious muscle, but still manages to stay extremely light on his feet. This might be down to his choice of boot, as he is an avid user of the Mercurial-collection, where he recently played in the other new colourway of the Vapor IX. Here it's gold and orange, that dominates the scenery and it definitely looks funky fresh.

Toni Kroos (Bayern Munich) – Adidas Adipure 11Pro Custom White/Red/Black Most of us had already written this gentlemen out of our boot spots, as he in style with his team-mate Bastian Schweinsteiger has stubbornly kept a hold of his Adidas Adipure IV. Now it would seem things have changed and apparently he has switched to the newer Adipure 11Pro – or has he? We simply think, that the German has had a pair of Adidas Adipure IV disguised in style with his formerly mentioned compatriot. This is particularly because of the stud-configuration and the outsole, that reminds us more of the one found on the Adipure IV.

Vapor IX sign up

Nike Mercurial Vapor IX is just around the corner and it's lining up to be a launch of epic proportions. It was however not all that was on the menu today and we have especially kept a sharp eye on Kroos' boots. What do you think about custom-boots like his? And which of the two Vapor IX-colourways do you like the best? Share your comment in the box down below.
