Every year, on the 10th day of the 10th month, adidas present an ultra, extremely, incredibly, unimaginably limited boot for Messi. This year it was the Messi 16+ PureAgility Kryptonite.

In case you didn’t catch it before, this adidas Messi 16+ PureAgility Kryptonite was kinda hard to come by. Just like in 2015, only 100 pairs of this 2016 version were made, and out of those pairs a couple were kept by adidas for display in their headquarters, while Messi himself naturally got a few pairs too. This left just the remaining eighty-odd pairs available for you and I to get, and if you thought this made your chances slim, you hadn’t heard anything yet...

Continued below.

That so few pairs existed was not what made these so devilishly tricky to secure. No sir, what made this stunning collectors boot hard to get was that they were only sold in a popup store, placed in an undisclosed location, somewhere in New York. The dedication needed to get a pair of adidas Messi 16+ PureAgility Kryptonite is completely unparalleled and while we would have loved to send one of our WebTV hosts on the hunt around The Big Apple, all three were out shooting other videos around the world on that all important Monday 16 days ago.

So how did we get these pictures you ask? Well as it happens, Unisport has a good friend who did make the trip to NYC and when he offered us the chance to drop by and snap some images of his newly acquired masterpiece, we leapt at the opportunity. His name is Gavin Bristol and his Instagram handle is @magnificentmercurial, where you should absolutely follow him, because these are only the tip of incredible Messi and CR7 collection.

He travelled more than 7000 miles from London to New York, which to most people sounds absolutely crazy, but for him it was just pure passion and we can only imagine what a great adventure it was. We are certainly happy he did, because it means we could shoot these epic images for your viewing pleasure. We hope you like them and it doesn’t hurt you too much to see a football boot that you will never-ever own.
