In December 2015, Nike penned their first ever lifetime contract with basketball icon LeBron James and now they make sure to sign down Cristiano Ronaldo in a similar life-long deal.

Rumoured and reported by various medias to be worth a cold hard $1 billion dollars, the new and very much improved contract agreement for CR7 sounds very similar to the one that the Swoosh signed with Lebron last year. It very much cements Ronaldo’s place, as if not the most talented footballer of all time, (Which is still very much up for debate in the always entertaining Messi vs. CR7 beef) then certainly the most prolific and lucrative.

I have a great relationship with this brand and I have good friends here in the company. We work as a family. – Cristiano Ronaldo.

In an interview with Nike, Cristiano Ronaldo discusses the new deal and the numerous good reasons for why he put pen to paper for life. Although the one billy probably didn’t make his decision any harder, he does state himself as “Mr. Nike”. We can only agree with the man himself and it would be strange to see him anywhere else than Nike, so why not make the arrangement official and earn a bit of cash while doing it.

Cristiano Ronaldo is already the highest paid athlete in the world across all sports, and if this new CR7 Nike lifetime contract is as comprehensive as rumoured, then he makes the gap between himself and second place even greater. Just to sweeten the pot, this all comes in the same week as him signing with Real Madrid until 2021, as well as launching a new chapter in his Nike Mercurial Superfly V story. Life turned out well for the young kid from Madeira.
