To celebrate the twentieth anniversary of Bayern Munich switching their home kit from red to navy, adidas and Bayern have released a stunning retro, navy away kit for the new season.

adidas hit the jackpot with the new FC Bayern Munich home kit last month, and once again the brand provides the German champions with a fire kit. The new Bayern Munch away shirt is based on the much-loved kit that inspired a classic celebration by former player Giovane Élber in a 1999 game vs Wolfsburg where he wrapped himself in a carpet at the side of the pitch. The adidas design team sought to channel the creative spirit behind this moment in a shirt that will be worn as FC Bayern look to win a sixth straight German title next season.

The new Bayern 17/18 away shirt combines retro design with the latest adidas Football technology. An example of this design-meets-performance approach comes with the red stripe across the shirt. It is made of a highly breathable mesh material, allowing for better air circulation keeping players cool and on top of their game in any conditions.

At Unisport HQ we’re really hyped about this one. The new Bayern away shirt is the first navy Bayern shirt since the 2015/16 season. But whereas Bayern Munich's dark navy 2015/17 away kit featured pin/red stripes and sleeve cuffs, the Bayern Munich 2017/18 away shirt is way classier. The sponsor logo is placed inside the large red stripe, which sees two smaller stripes running above and below it. The design is mirrored by the sleeve cuffs of the Bayern Munich 2017-2018 away shirt, which are solid red, and this completes the look of one of the nicest shirts this summer.
