Are you a born leader? Nike is now ready to present the 6th and penultimate chapter of the story of Cristiano Ronaldo - named “Born Leader”, focusing on Ronaldo's role as team captain on the Portuguese national team. Ronaldo made his debut for Portugal on the 6th February 2007, the day after his 22nd birthday. With every cap for the national team, Ronaldo makes an even bigger mark on football history, as the captain with the most caps. Even when being injured and unable to perform on the pitch, he has the ability to push his fellow countrymen forward to glory - best shown by his on/off pitch performance during the final at the 2016 European Championship, which Portugal won.
Nike has decided that CR7 chapter 6’s colours should be inspired by the Portuguese legacy as a maritime nation, along the African and South American coasts - being reflected in the azure blue. The C representing the captain, is shown encapsulated by an armillary sphere - an astronomical device. The pattern on the boot matches that on the national shirt, also featuring the Portuguese cross.

• Synthetic upper - weight 176 gram
Full synthetic upper - single piece upper
The upper is made from a single piece of synthetic material, being extremely flexible. It features microtexture for an improved grip on the ball, when moving in high speed. The design covers the entire boot and you foot, following the movements of your foot - creating a feel of a second layer of skin. The instep features an internal last, to improve the level of comfort. The inside of the boot is lined to offer an increased protection against slipping.
Re-engineered outsole for superior grip
The outsole is made with a two piece configuration, offering the right mix of flexibility and responsiveness. The insole is thin and designed to offer cushioning and stop slipping. The outsole covers continues up to cover the front, to enhance strenght and durability.
Stud configuration for acceleration and deceleration.
In the modern version of the beautiful game, much is decided by your ability to run fast and change direction quickly. But equally important is the ability to stop quickly. Using advanced computing, Nike engineered a new stud configuration. Pressure point and flow of power were mapped, different studs and shapes were tested and analyzed. Eventually Nike came up with the ideal combination of placement and shape. They have been slightly angled for improved grip, both when acceleration and change of direction. Equally effective when stopping.
